Frequently asked questions
Which font formats work?
TTF, OTF and WOFF are parsed when supported by the local parser and browser. WOFF2 is detected explicitly but binary decoding is not bundled in this version.
Is a font uploaded?
No. Bytes, names, glyph paths and temporary FontFace previews remain in the browser and object URLs are revoked on reset.
Can the tool decide whether I may use a font?
No. It surfaces name-table license text, URLs and OS/2 embedding flags as evidence only. Copyright and licensing decisions require the actual license and qualified judgment.
Why export a subset manifest instead of a font?
Safe subsetting must preserve shaping and variation tables and honor licensing flags. The manifest lists exact characters and a reproducible fonttools command without pretending a lossy browser rewrite is safe.
