Video Frame Extractor & Storyboard Maker
Local video workspaceExtract exact video frames, detect scene changes, arrange storyboards and export contact sheets locally.
Turn a video into an editable storyboard
Open a browser-supported video, choose a sampling strategy, curate exact frames, and build a production-ready contact sheet.
How to use it
- 01
Open a local video
Read browser-supported video metadata and preview the source through a temporary local object URL.
- 02
Extract and curate frames
Sample uniformly, by interval or by visual scene difference, then step, capture, rename, select and reorder exact frames.
- 03
Design and export
Configure a bounded contact sheet, review similar frames and export JPEG, selected-frame ZIP or reproducible JSON evidence.
Frequently asked questions
Is the video uploaded?
No. Decoding, sampling, frame capture, contact-sheet rendering and exports occur in this browser tab.
Which video formats work?
Support follows the current browser's container and codec decoders. MP4, WebM and MOV may work, but the codec inside the container still matters.
Is scene detection frame-perfect?
No. It scans bounded samples with an explainable pixel-difference threshold, then enforces a minimum gap. Use manual frame stepping for editorial precision.
Why is contact-sheet size limited?
The editor caps canvas dimensions and total pixels to prevent browser crashes and to remain deployable as a static Cloudflare Pages application.
